Well, after doing a number of games as a 'newbie', I've gathered a small wardrobe of uni's that when a more 'seasoned' umpire arrives at the games, it seems I have a shortage of appropriately colored gear.
Here is what I have:1 Navy Base shirt1 Navy Plate shirt (same style, larger size)
Red T-Shirt for above.
1 Powder blue (blue collar) Base shirt1 Powder blue (blue collar) Plate shirt
1 Pair Combo slacks (may actually be Plate, but definatrely not Base)
1 pair Plate shoes1 pair Base shoes
I don't have a pullover jacket for colder weather. What is the recommended color combo?
During the training classes, the different colors were covered, but none except the Navy shirts were considered 'mandatory'
Is it a good idea to generate an 'expected' color combo for developing umpires to guide us on what stuff to purchase as we get the $$ to cover the expenses; I would appreciate such a list.
Thanks,Bob

Hey Bob,

Just a little info in case you don't know. TheOfficialsChoice.com currently has the black and navy pullover jackets on sale for 30.00 plus you get a free matching color shirt and a ball bag. Navy is the only mandatory color that way everybody at least has one color. The only color you NEED is navy, that way everybody has at least one color in common. Its always good to call your partner a day or two before your game and talk about what color to wear. I remember my second year I was so excited because I finally got a light blue shirt after using navy my whole first season. My next game my partner asks what color and I proudly say let's go lt blue to which he replied, ok which light blue? Talk about bursting my bubble. It happens to us all. Popular colors to get are black, creme and lt. blue w/black collar. At least those are what I seem to use the most.
