getting started

Hello. Im interested in becoming an umpire at the highschool, and ncaa levels. Where can i go to get started? I see that there are many clinics available for various skill levels. I have played baseball
for many years, and have a little umpiring experience, im not fooling myself into thinking i know
what i need to know there appears to be a lot to it, and much information to learn. the bottom line is
want to have fun doing it. Im open to any advice you can throw my way. I would appreiciate it very
much thank you     MARK.DIAS

Getting started.

The best way to get started in the area is through the Umpires clinics that are put on. The next ones are in November. Click on the Events tab just below the Sac Umpires heading. Look at the November Calender and sign up for the two umpire clinic days in November. That will get you started.

There is also a need to get uniforms and Gear to umpire games. If you have nothing now a full set to get properly started cost about $450.00 on line. You need, Shirts, Pants, Chest Protector, Shin Guards, Plate Shoes, indicator, Ball bag, Plate brush, Umpire hat, and Mask for starters.

In order to get games and make the investment worth while you will need to participate and as much training as possible. NCOA or the HS group has Class room training that starts in January. You should plan to attend the Monday night classes in Jan, Feb, and March to get yourself going.

Hope this was helpful.
