Pre Certification Class Outline

I. Our Mission:

Motivating the group to attempt to reach higher goals within group and in the umpire community. Provide interactive opportunities,
study material, hands-on training and classroom presentations to afford the member the best possibility for improvement.

II. Specific Goal of Class:

To Help each Class Member attain the next level in the HS Group (Certified).

III. Methods:

8 Interactive Classroom Sessions
2 Day Presidents Day weekend clinic
2 Day Skill checkoff
A. Shadow Drills
B. Practice Drills
1 Rules clinic
Multiple Scrimmage workouts
Fall Ball Scrimmages with critiques
Community Involvement Project

Students must attend all of these to be promoted to next level.
If a Student is unable to attend one or more of the events They may apply to the instructors for an alternate project.

1. Problems from previous years - What ifs?

2. Trouble issues - Unique plays, etc...

3. Altercations - Coaches & Players

4. Rotations with partner

5. Mechanics - Basic vs. advanced

6. Rules Interpretation

What they want us to go over
1. The pitcher, while touching his plate, makes any motion naturally associated with his pitch and fails to make such delivery.
2. The pitcher, while touching his plate, feints a throw to first base and fails to complete the throw.
3. The pitcher, while touching his plate, fails to step directly toward a base before throwing to that base.
4. The pitcher, while touching his plate, throws, or feints a throw to an unoccupied base, except for the purpose of making a play.
5. The pitcher makes an illegal pitch.
6. The pitcher delivers the ball to the batter while he is not facing the batter.
7. The pitcher makes any motion naturally associated with his pitch while he is not touching the pitcher's plate.
8. The pitcher unnecessarily delays the game.
9. The pitcher, without having the ball, stands on or astride the pitcher's plate or while off the plate, he feints a pitch.
10. The pitcher, after coming to a legal pitching position removes one hand from the ball other than in an actual pitch, or throwing to a base.
11. The pitcher, while touching his plate, accidently or intentionally drops the ball.
12. The pitcher, while giving an intentional base on balls, pitches when the catcher is not in the catcher's box.
13. The pitcher delivers the pitch from the Set position without coming to a stop.
